I'm almost done with part 5 of Stephen King's Dark Tower series. So I guess parts 6 and 7 are on the horizon.

WTS will never take legal action. In order to prove slander, they would have to be willing to have their beliefs scrutinized publicly.

Here's the thing. Nobody actually cares about sparlock. It's a meme only to us.
by JonathanH inat first the sparlock thing was just a cute little diversion.
the icon of an amusingly out of touch cheaply produced dvd.
somehow it has spiralled into a kind of focal point of society bashing.

I think it was supposed to be fun, nothing more. I don't think anyone was under the belief that this was going to become a national phenomenon.
Granted, there are some "apostates" who suffer from the same level of self-delusion as JWs with regards to their overall importance in the grand scheme of things. But Sparlock was nothing more than a lighthearted symbol of the sheltered and oppressed existence of JW children.
Nobody outside of this website knows or will ever know who sparlock is.
I think that's true of pretty much anything that's posted here. The JW religion is a non-entity. The rest of the world doesn't give two shits about it, or the rants of its ex-members. Talk to someone outside of this forum about the significance JWs attach to 1914, and it will be greeted with the same level of indifference as Sparlock.

Did anyone find the movie The Grey slightly offensive?
by Chemical Emotions inits portrayal of grey wolves was horribly inaccurate.
it will probably lead to an even more negative attitude toward wolves, which puts them in more danger.
i believe i read that the creators bought dead wolves while producing the movie.. its main characters' philosophizing was pretentious, cliched, and insulting to my intelligence.

Every wolf I've talked to said they didn't care for it.

Was there a naked fan dancer?
Possibly me, but I'll have to check the video. Some of the night is kind of a blur.

Nothing wrong with passionate opinions.
Agreed, as long as they're the same as mine.

Pioneers and Their Way of Counting "Time"
by Eiben Scrood inin the congregations in my area there was an expression to the effect that 'there's counting time and then there's the way pioneers count their time'.
the watchtower's guidelines were pretty strict on when time could be counted.
some pioneers followed it and others didn't.. on particularly motivated young man comes to mind, he would work full-time or close to it and pioneer.

A pioneer admitted to me one time that he started his time every morning by opening his bedroom window and shouting, "Praise Jehovah!"
If he does it again, before he goes to bed, he can count the entire day.
